MARSHFIELD, VERMONT MARTIN COVERED BRIDGE

After five years sitting in the field beside Rte 2, the Martin Bridge in Marshfield, Vermont is finally rehabilitated and back across the Winooski River on rebuilt granite abutments. The site now also includes a parking area, a pathway to the bridge, signs, a stone sitting wall and walking trails across the 72 acre property. Trees and shrubs will be added shortly.
The 44 foot queenpost has its original 5 plus inch and very noticeable camber which had sagged to 1 inch before the rehabilitation. The bridge looks great and was very capably rehabilitated so it should easily last another 120 years. Marshfield can indeed be proud of this amazing renewed covered bridge!
It is also reported that the use of powertools was allowed!
